Data backup and data deletion procedures#

Data backup#

Data integrity is ensured at the platform level by replicating data on volumes, data in S3, and images.

In addition, backup is provided as a managed service (Backup as a Service or BaaS). Backup solutions are integrated with K2 Cloud and enable the efficient use of cloud object storage to store critical information and prevent loss of corporate data. You can use your software both in K2 Cloud and on-premises and store your data in our object storage.

The following solutions have been tested and are supported: CloudBerry Backup from MSP360 and Veritas NetBackup.

You can store any data amounts in the object storage in K2 Cloud and customize the backup system flexibly depending on your current needs. Any object storage bucket can store up to 1PB of data without deduplication.

Use cases:

  1. Data backup from the cloud to an independent object storage.

  2. Data backup from local infrastructure to K2 Cloud via dedicated channel or public network.

  3. Using object storage in K2 Cloud to separately store offsite backups according to the 3-2-1 backup rule.

Data deletion policy#

Blocking mode#

The blocking mode partially restricts users’ capabilities to use the cloud. The triggering conditions for this mode are described in the agreement between the parties.

The following restrictions apply in this mode:

  • All company’s virtual servers stop running.

  • Users cannot create new resources in the cloud, such as instances, volumes, Elastic IPs, etc., except for subnets.

  • At the same time, they can still work with S3 object storage.

Archiving mode#

The archiving mode completely blocks users from using the cloud and deletes all services in use. The archiving mode is activated when the agreement expires or is prematurely terminated.

The archiving mode first triggers the blocking mode. The latter is valid for 72 hours, whereafter the company’s account and all resources are permanently deleted and cannot be restored.

We always notify our customers via email that their resources have been put into the archiving mode and are about to be deleted.

Records of API requests to user resources are retained for one year to analyze security incidents and prevent fraud. Then they are permanently deleted.
