Volume placement groups#

General information#

A volume placement group is a volume group distributed across different physical servers in one availability zone. One particular server can host only one volume of the group.

Important

This functionality is available only for nv1: Non-replicated (NVMe) volumes.

The server where the volume will be located is selected automatically when it is created. If the volumes are not included in the same placement group, they may end up on the same server. This may cause unavailability of these volumes at the same time during a server reboot or failure. When volumes are included in a placement group, they are guaranteed to be on different servers. A volume can be included in a volume placement group only when it is created.

Billing#

Volume placement groups are free of charge.

Available quotas#

The following default quotas are allocated to volume placement groups:

  • 5 volume placement groups in a project;

  • 3 volumes in a volume placement group.

    Note

    The limit for the number of volumes cannot be increased yet.

If necessary, you can increase quotas. To do this, contact the support service via the support portal or by email support@k2.cloud.

Volume placement groups are also subject to the following constraints:

  • A volume can belong to one placement group only.

  • A group can include only volumes from the same availability zone.

Creating a volume placement group#

  1. В веб-интерфейсе в верхнем меню выберите проект и регион, где требуется создать группу размещения дисков.

  2. Expand the side menu by clicking .

  3. Перейдите в раздел Виртуальные машины Хранение данных Группы размещения дисков. Для быстрого нахождения раздела вы можете воспользоваться поиском по меню.

  4. В панели действий над таблицей ресурсов нажмите Создать.

  5. In the dialog window:

    • specify the placement group name;

    • select the availability zone.

  6. Click Create.

Deleting a volume placement group#

Группу размещения дисков можно удалить, только если она не содержит ни одного диска. Диск можно исключить из группы, только удалив его.

  1. В веб-интерфейсе в верхнем меню выберите проект и регион, где требуется удалить группу размещения дисков.

  2. Expand the side menu by clicking .

  3. Перейдите в раздел Виртуальные машины Хранение данных Группы размещения дисков. Для быстрого нахождения раздела можно воспользоваться поиском по меню.

  4. В таблице ресурсов выберите группу размещения дисков, которую необходимо удалить.

    Note

    Вы можете выбрать для удаления сразу несколько групп.

  5. На всплывающей панели действий нажмите Удалить.

  6. In the dialog window, confirm the action.
